For US & UK bookkeepers
Bank statement PDF → Excel & CSV
Bank statement PDFs to clean Excel & CSV — built for bookkeepers
- ✓ Balance reconciliation on every extract
- ✓ QuickBooks Online & Xero export presets
- ✓ Bank-aware parsers + generic fallback
- ✓ Privacy-first: no long file retention
Month-end batch ready
Built for freelance bookkeepers and small firms who get PDF-only client statements and need clean imports into QBO/Xero — with a reconciliation check before you file.
What it does
You upload a text PDF from the client's bank portal. BankSheet extracts the lines, maps them into debit/credit (or signed amount) columns, shows a preview, runs a balance check, then lets you download Excel or CSV — including QuickBooks Online and Xero presets — so you can import without retyping.
Who it's for
Freelance bookkeepers and small firms in the US and UK who get stuck with PDF-only statements at month-end. If you're doing catch-up books, onboarding a new client, or batching several banks into QBO or Xero, this is the workpaper step between the portal download and the import screen.
How it compares to Bank Statement Converter & DocuClipper
Generic “bank statement converter” tools often stop at a raw spreadsheet. BankSheet is bookkeeper-first: bank-aware parsers, QBO/Xero column presets, and an explicit opening + movements vs closing check before you download. Compared with DocuClipper-style document platforms, we stay focused on statement → spreadsheet conversion with short in-memory retention — not a long-term document vault.
How the balance check works
When the statement shows opening and closing balances, we compute opening + net credits − net debits and compare that to the stated closing balance (within a small tolerance). You see pass / fail / incomplete on the preview so you catch a missed page or bad parse before anything hits QuickBooks or Xero.

FAQ
- Which banks does BankSheet support?
- Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, Capital One, American Express, Barclays, HSBC, NatWest, Revolut, plus a generic parser for other text-based PDFs.
- Does BankSheet store my statements?
- No long retention. PDFs are processed in memory and discarded quickly (documented ~60s ephemeral buffers). We never log PDF contents. See our Privacy Policy.
- Can I export for QuickBooks or Xero?
- Yes. Choose the QuickBooks Online or Xero preset before downloading CSV or Excel.
- Do scanned image PDFs work?
- The MVP extracts text-based statements from bank portals. Image-only scans need OCR (coming later).
